Understanding the new state of the spinal circuitry generated by pharmacotherapy after complete spinal cord injury
Funded in: 2010, 2011, 2012
Back to overview
After complete SCI pathways from the brain and upper segments of the spinal cord are lost and a new state of spinal locomotor circuitry, functional and morphological, is generated. The goal of the study is to gain better insight of the new state of the spinal locomotor circuitry in chronic complete SCI and to elucidate the mechanisms that enable noradrenergic and serontoninergic agonists to exert potent and beneficial effects on the locomotor network.
