Why support Wings for Life, when there is also publically-funded research?

Back to overview

Worldwide, millions of people are affected by spinal cord injury. Each year, a further approximately 250 000 people survive a traumatic spinal cord injury. These numbers are significant, but unfortunately too small to be well presented in public research or pharmaceutical industry. Therefore, the role of privately funded initiatives in promoting medical research into cures for spinal cord injuries is more vital than ever before. Wings for Life supports scientists to make big steps towards cutting-edge discoveries, treatments to cure paralysis and associated conditions caused by spinal cord injury.

Wings for Life does not receive any government funding so we rely entirely upon private donations.
