Formula One Challenge 2015 Launch Dinner
Back to overview
On Thursday 5 March, Wings for Life invited all Formula One Challenge teams to the Royal Automobile Club to give them some extra motivation for the fundraising season ahead. Infiniti Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner joined the competitors to share some useful tips on teamwork.
The Wings for Life Formula One Challenge is a way businesses compete against one other to raise as much money as possible for spinal cord research. The Challenge runs alongside the Formula One season from testing in February to the finish line in November. The more funds the teams raise, the more Infiniti Red Bull Racing privileges they can get. These range from a static Formula One show car for display and tickets to the British Grand Prix Weekend, to a driving session in the Infiniti Red Bull Racing simulator - something normally limited for drivers only.
Four teams took up the Challenge this year, willing to give their utmost to become this year’s fundraising champions: Ernst & Young, JLF Design, Mitie and Trilogy IT. Infiniti Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner joined the teams for dinner and a Q&A session on the importance of teamwork. He stressed the importance of communication and understanding the talents of each team member are two vital keys to success, alongside being organised and staying focused on the end goal.
The night also welcomed Wings for Life Ambassador Sean Rose who gave an inspirational presentation, talking about the skiing accident that left him paralysed from the waist down, the challenges he has faced and the moment he decided to become a professional sportsman. Sean encouraged the teams to challenge themselves, no matter how hard or difficult the objective is: “If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.”
We want to thank everyone who joined us for the launch dinner and wish all the teams good luck!
