It’s been five years since the Wings for Life World Run started the world running as one. Every year hundreds of thousands of runners and wheelchair participants start running from the Catcher Car at the same time – 11am UTC – the world over, alone with the App or together in events. And as a charity event, it has raised millions for Wings for Life to fund research into a cure for spinal cord injury. (Find all funded projects here)
Because that’s what it’s all about – running for people with spinal cord injury, whose lives changed in a heartbeat from a slip, trip or everyday accident.
On May 6, 2018, participants will once again walk, run and roll until the real Catcher Car in the events or a virtual Catcher Car in the App approaches from behind, pushing each person to keep going and feel the pride of finishing.
That´s new in 2018
As ever, the Catcher Cars – some driven by celebrities – will chase participants in the event locations until they pass them and end their race. And the 2018 edition also sees the growth of the Organized App Runs, so people can run their own track alone, create or join a local community to share in the joy and spirit of the day, or explore the world and be a part of an Organized App Run somewhere they’ve always wanted to visit. (Find all information here - more organised App Runs should be added in the coming months)
