Success at The Cord Club 2016
Thursday night Wings for Life welcomed ambassadors, friends and high profile guests from the world of business and sport to a transformed space at Eastwintergarden in London’s Canary Wharf for annual fundraising party, The Cord Club. The aim of the night was to raise funds and awareness for spinal cord research and guests included Adrian Newey, Red Bull Racing’s Christian Horner and wife Geri Horner, company supporters from e2B, Ball, AMS and REL and Wings for Life’s co-founder Heinz Kinigadner and his son Hannes.
Guests were guided through the evening by hosts Olympic Gold Medallist Colin Jackson and renowned MotoGP television presenter Suzi Perry, both of whom are key supporters of Wings for Life.
Suzi Perry said: “I was so honoured to take on the mantle of host alongside Colin Jackson for this year’s event. I’ve attended The Cord Club before as a guest and it’s definitely one of the stand-out fundraising parties of the year. I hope we made tonight extra special for all of the guests and generous donors – Colin & I certainly had some fun and we’re thrilled to have raised so much money for such a vital cause.”
Guests cheered as our CEO Anita Gerhardter and Colin Jackson went head-to-head on a treadmill to raise awareness of the Wings for Life World Run and the night was brought to a close with a show-stopping performance from international beat-boxing star, Shlomo.
Following a beautiful dinner, auctioneer Jonny Gould took to the stage to present some big-hitting live auction items.
On the night over £150,000 was raised allowing more than two scientific research projects to be funded to find a cure for spinal cord injury.
Head of Wings for Life UK, Nikki Wilson shared at the end of the night: “The Cord Club is so important to our annual calendar of events – it keeps us on the map in London and we throw everything we’ve got at creating an outstanding auction and a fantastic stage show. I’m confident our guests will leave happy tonight and full of the Wings for Life spirit, as well as more than a few drinks! Thank you to absolutely everyone who has helped to bring The Cord Club to our great capital city once again.”
We would like to thank our guests, volunteers, sponsors, donors and everyone else who made this evening a truly wonderful event in particular our VIP Co-Partners e2B and Ball, our corporate sponsors innovision and Arc.
