Information system for Spinal Cord Injury Research
Starting in March 2016, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research funds a consortium project. Receiving 1.1 Million Euro during the next three years an information system about spinal cord injuries will be established.
This information system shall serve as decision tool for the selection and implementation of clinical studies. A further goal: the accelerated translation of preclinical findings into clinical application. The database also serves as foundation for meta-analysis of pre-existing studies. It enables researchers to more quickly survey and evaluate the current state of research.
The information system that will be developed in this project aims at increasing knowledge regarding the chances of success of a certain experimental therapy. Based on comprehensive information provided in this knowledge base, neuroscientists can select the most promising therapeutic concepts for clinical trials. Contact person is Prof. Dr. Hans Werner Müller, Department of Neurology, University Hospital Düsseldorf. He and his project partners in Düsseldorf and Bielefeld are convinced that this data base as a selection tool will speed up translation in spinal cord injury research.
