Diversity when donating
Fundraising activities can be as versatile as their organisers. The recent fundraising activities covered a diverse range from elegant fancy dinners, to adrenalin filled sports events and even activities which challenge individuals to their maximum potential.
Team Cahill tackle Lake Windermere
Jack Fishwick sustained a serious spinal cord injury playing rugby for Wimbledon RFC. His words after his accident: "same life, different challenge". His friends decided to raise funds for Wings for Life and braved the chilly waters of Lake Windermere in the Lake District to swim two miles each. They have raised more than £3,000 so far.
Photo for donation
Until now drivers wore the typical Formula 1 caps for photos, now with a sudden wave of creativity drivers from Hartberg, Styria have designed their own personal helmets which are individual to each of them. Every attendant of the Formula 1 GP in Spielberg wanted to purchase a photo with Fritz Dorn and his crew. Fans donated the cost of this to Wings for Life raising a grand total of €1.931.

The Stock Car Race

Team Henry ‘s incredible efforts
In January 2015, Josie Evans’ boyfriend Henry was involved in an accident which severely damaged his spinal cord and left him paralysed from the waist down. He is currently in a rehabilitation centre in Cardiff. Josie and her two best friends Kate and Kirsty took on the Hackney half marathon and have raised over £4,000. Henry’s friends James and Thomas joined the effort and completed the Swansea Half Marathon in June and have raised more than £1,600.
The Schenkenfelden Motorsports Club in Upper Austria sold stickers at a car auction. They collected €765 for Wings for Life.
Just Walk 60km
Together with his wife Emma and two friends, our Trustee David Hornby did ‘Just Walk’ – a 60km walk through the South Downs and West Sussex countryside, starting and finishing at Goodwood racecourse. They have raised over £500 so far.
All of these fundraising ideas have been a huge success and have raised an incredible amount of awareness for us!
100% of the donations will go into funding scientific research and clinical trials to help find a cure for spinal cord injury. Thank you for taking the time to hold each of the fundraising activities and for your generous donations.
