Colin Jackson appointed Race Director for Wings for Life World Run
Colin Jackson has accepted the invitation to the post of Race Director for the Wings for Life World Run, becoming the official spokesperson of the Race, among other responsibilities.
“Being an ambassador of any event makes me proud, but this one certainly is an outstanding one,” said Colin of his appointment. “We are right at the beginning of something new and exciting and with that in mind you can jump on the whole journey at the beginning, you can make a difference.”
"We’re thrilled that Colin has taken on the role of the International Race Director,” said Anita Gerhardter, the CEO of the Wings for Life foundation. “He is not only a great fit to the team because of his outstanding sporting career but also because he’s so fired up about the race, its concept and our foundation.”
Colin is a legendary athlete both in Great Britain and internationally, having won silver at the Seoul Olympics in his favourite discipline of the 110 metres hurdles. He is also a three times World Champion, two times Commonwealth Champion and was unbeaten at the European Championships for 12 years. His list of achievements also includes a World record of 12.91 seconds at the 110 metres hurdles, which remain unbeaten for over a decade and a 60 metre hurdles record that is still unbeaten.
“The Wings for Life World Run is going to be so exciting as it has never been done before, and is a huge turn on” said Colin of his excitement about the race. “Many people want to participate just to see how this works, how it is organized and to me, that is what is going to going to make it special. I am very happy, I’m looking forward to May the 4th and the event taking place”.
Colin's vast experience in sports as a competitor, coach, manager and BBC presenter make him a great asset to the Wings for Life World Run team.
