The renowned „Ikarus Night“ takes place once a year in the exclusive ambiance of the Hangar-7 in Salzburg, and is hosted in support of the Wings for Life Foundation. This event represents the annual culinary highlight for gourmets and connoisseurs.
On this very special evening, the 12 chefs who have guested at the Ikarus restaurant over the past twelve months, come together to serve a one-of-a-kind 12-course meal to the several hundred invited guests.
The Ikarus Night 2009 took place on November 21, and provided anewly exquisite courses and a breathtaking show, this time themed “Cirque de Cuisine”.
One great highlight represented the touching speech of the great actor Peter Simonischek, who commemorated the tragic fate of being diagnosed with paraplegia, and emphasized the necessity of spinal cord research and the ambition of Wings for Life to find a cure for spinal paralysis.
Besides Mister Simonischek and his wife, actress Brigitte Karner, Wings for Life co-founder Heinz Kinigadner and many more celebrities came to Salzburg to participate in this charity event, amongst others boxing champion Vitali Klitschko, racing driver Nick Heidfeld and Red Bull Air Race World Champion 2008 Hannes Arch.
Wings for Life dearly thanks Hangar-7 for another bountiful donation: the contribution of the Ikarus Night proceeds 2009 amounting to € 202,020 in support of spinal cord research!
