5.500 metres difference in altitude and 22 kilometres ski piste had to be conquered on the last weekend at the legendary „Weißer Ring“ race.
Among 125 teams in total, many celebrities came to Lech to enter the contest for a good cause. In support of Wings for Life, ex-formula 1 driver David Coulthard, ski-jump star Andi Goldberger and Red Bull Air Race world champion 2008 Hannes Arch arrived on site.
The longest ski race in the world demanded a great deal not only of the Wings for Life teams. Fully motivated and in good shape, the three Wings for Life teams, each consisting of four members, did a brilliant job and wowed with a great ski-run.
„It’s the taking part that counts“, says Andi Goldberger – and true to this motto, several people had wanted to snatch a starting position next to David Coulthard, Andi Goldberger and Hannes Arch, by contributing to the Wings for Life fund.
Andi Goldberger emphasizes: „Indeed, we had a lot of fun as well. And each one of us is into supporting Wings for Life.” The popular former ski-jumper ranked 38th with his team.
Hannes Arch and his team were also happy about a top-result: they scored 27th place. The tornado sailer Hans-Peter Steinacher showed poised performance also aside from „his element“ and started together with his wife Christiane. Extreme skier Axel Naglich completed the successful team.
„Being Wings for Life ambassador, I of course gladly faced this challenge and passed the 22 kilometres ski piste“, the former formula one driver sums up. David Coulthard also achieved a good result with his team.
Wings for Life thanks all teams for their participation at the „Weißer Ring“ and congratulates on their superb performance at the longest ski race in the world!
