ISCoS Meeting 2009

17.11.2009

The internationally active Austrian Spinal Cord Research Foundation Wings for Life hosted a top-classed manned symposium focusing on „SCI-secondary prevention“ during the 48th ISCoS Annual Scientific Meeting that was held from the 21st to 24th of October 2009 in Florence (Italy).

The aim of the symposium was the illustration of various aspects of the secondary prevention, which are based on statistical data like the frequency of spinal cord injuries in Europe and their main cause as well as the defined main zones of vulnerability concerning the human spinal cord.

Thanks to the symposium, Wings for Life not only managed to initiate intensive discussions about relevant prevention issues on site, but also to establish valuable, effective scientific networks.

Speakers:

Prof. Michael J. Devivo, DrPH (University of Alabama, Birmingham)

Prof. Andrei Krassioukov, MD PhD (University of British Columbia, Vancouver)

Dr. Florian Roser, MD PhD (University Hospital for Neurosurgery, Tübingen)
