The Cord Club comes to the Roundhouse
Back to overview
On Wednesday 11th February, we hosted our annual fundraising party – The Cord Club – at the beautiful Roundhouse in Camden, London. The evening was packed full of show-stopping entertainment and fine dining courtesy of Michelin star chef, Angela Hartnett. Our Ambassadors David Coulthard and Susie Wolff, hosted and entertained a crowd of high society guests who all attended with one aim; to raise an extraordinary amount of money for spinal cord injury research.
Celebrities from across the worlds of sport, music and fashion filled the venue to show their support and together guests raised an incredible €293,000. Many famous faces graced the red carpet including Christian Horner and his fiancé Geri Halliwell, TV Presenter Suzi Perry, Lord March, Adrian Newey, Danny MacAskill, Prince Abdulaziz Turki Al Faisal and Eddie Jordan to celebrate the magnificent evening.
The entertainment throughout the night was exciting and thought provoking including a sensational biking performance from Danny MacAskill and his ‘Drop and Roll’ team. Susie Wolff then held an intimate interview with Danny and his idol and inspiration, our Ambassador and Mountain Bike Trial legend, Martyn Ashton.
Danny MacAskill said: “I have a lot of friends who are affected by spinal cord injuries and the sooner we can find a cure the better. I really want to see them walking again.”
A crucial part of the evening was the much-anticipated Cord Club live auction, which included a number of incredible lots such as a Red Bull Air Race extravaganza, a Saracens Rugby experience and the chance to sail away on a Monaco yacht. For those wishing to be a little more private about their bidding, the Cord Club silent auction included a wine tasting weekend in Austria, an escape to the Scilly Isles and an Infiniti Red Bull Racing work placement.
After an exquisite menu of three courses, the partying kicked off with Eddie and the Robbers, legendary Formula One boss Eddie Jordan’s very own rock band, who had the audience straight to the dance floor. The guests then danced the night away with globally renowned DJ Erok.
Emma Harris, Wings for Life UK said: “I am truly grateful for the generosity from all our guests at The Cord Club. This year we have had a record breaking year raising over €290,000, which is absolutely phenomenal. The evening was a great success and the support that we are given from our Trustees, Ambassadors and Friends is remarkable and I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of this wonderful evening.”
We would like to thank our guests, volunteers, sponsors, donors and everyone else who made it a night that we will never forget!
