September Finds

Wings for Life´s mission is to find a cure for spinal cord injury. 100% of every donation goes into spinal cord research. However, we regularly share delight in news from our supporters and the spinal cord injury community about all kinds of interesting stories not directly related to research. Here are some of the things which have made us go ‘wow’ this month…

Four Austrian students produced the documentary “Vom Fallen und Fliegen”. The Film calls attention to athletes with disabilities. The DVD costs 12 Euros and can be ordered at office@oepc.at -  the profit from sales will go to the athletes featured.

We´ve found 23 things that people in wheelchairs have to cope with. Honest, to-the-point and yet self-deprecating too.

Michelle Dayto introduced the US-based portal Expertise.com to us. “I’m reaching out because we researched and developed a pretty comprehensive resource for people living with disabilities. The guide aims to help make the federal grants available to seniors, veterans, and disabled people much easier to understand and take advantage of, particularly for remodeling homes for accessibility.”

Most pieces of clothing are not designed for people with disabilities. Heidi McKenzie, paralyzed at T4 after a car accident in 2007, is solving that problem. Now she has designed a collection of jeans dubbed Alter Ur Ego for people who use wheelchairs. Pre Orders are now available.
